TERMS & CONDITIONS

By submitting an entry to the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026, presented by Aussie Street, the entrant agrees to these Terms & Conditions. These Terms & Conditions form an agreement between the entrant and Aussie Street and apply to all photographs submitted to the Awards.

WHO CAN ENTER?

The Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 are open to photographers aged 18 years or older at the time of entry who meet at least one of the following criteria:

• are an Australian citizen;

• are an Australian permanent resident; or

• currently reside in Australia.

Entrants do not need to be professional photographers.

Photographs may have been made anywhere in the world and do not need to depict Australia.

Employees, organisers and members of the judging panel directly involved in administering the Awards are not eligible to enter.

Aussie Street reserves the right to request reasonable evidence of eligibility before awarding a finalist position or prize.

ENTRY PERIOD & DEADLINES

Entries for the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 open on Friday 25th September at 9AM AEDT and close on Sunday October 25th at 11:59 PM AEDT.

All entries, including image uploads and payment of the applicable entry fee, must be completed before the closing deadline.

Entries that are incomplete, unpaid or received after the closing deadline may not be considered.

Aussie Street may extend the entry deadline at its discretion. Any extension will be announced through the official Aussie Street website and/or social media channels.

By submitting an entry, each entrant confirms that:

• they have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions;

• all information supplied as part of their entry is accurate;

• they meet the eligibility requirements of the Awards; and

• every photograph submitted complies with the requirements set out in these Terms & Conditions.

Competition Rules

COMPETITION RULES

• Entrants can submit images by visiting the AUSSIE STREET website https://www.aussiestreetphoto.com/competitions and following the instructions.

• Entrants must complete both the ENTRY FEE PAYMENT and SUBMISSION of image(s) in order to complete a valid entry to the AUSSIE STREET 2023 Competition. No entries will be considered without following the procedures outlined at in the competition rules.

• All submitted images must uphold the ethos of ‘street photography’. For detailed stipulations on the constitution of ‘street photography’, entrants should consult: https://in-public.com/street-photography/

• Photographs taken in any location within the public realm, are acceptable: indoors and outdoors (i.e. city, street, beach, train, park, restaurant, outback, etc.)

• Photographs can be taken with any camera or in any format (digital, film, mobile etc). Both Colour and Black and White images are accepted.

• Photographs should not be artificially staged or drastically manipulated in post-production, with the exception of basic darkroom adjustments and/ or their digital equivalents. HDR images will not be accepted. Watermarked images will not be accepted.

• The entrant shall retain all copyright to their submitted images. Images may be used for promotional and exhibition purposes as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.

• Each submitted photograph must be the original and sole work of the named entrant submitting that photograph; and the entrant must hold the image’s copyright to submit it to the contest. Published images or images previously entered in other competitions are acceptable. By submitting to the contest, the entrant affirms that their image(s) does not infringe upon the trademarks, intellectual property, or rights of others.

• There is no limit to the number of photos that can be submitted.

• There is no restriction as to when the submitted image was created; however, recent work is encouraged.

• Submitting an entry does not guarantee inclusion in the AUSSIE STREET 2023 Finalist exhibition. Images selected by the judging panel will be exhibited as the ‘AUSSIE STREET 2023 Competition Finalists’.

• There is no restriction on the number of AUSSIE STREET 2023 Competition Finalist images by the same entrant.

• The number of Finalist images will be left to the discretion of the Organisers and judges, contingent on the number of entries received.

• The Organisers of AUSSIE STREET 2023 reserve the right to disqualify any participant or image at their discretion, without notice, for reasons of unsuitable conduct or failure to comply with the stated Competition Rules.

THE AWARD

• The Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 is a single-image photography award presented by Aussie Street.

• Entrants may submit multiple individual photographs in accordance with the available entry packages. Each photograph will be considered as a separate entry.

• A panel of independent judges will select 25 Finalists from all eligible entries.

• The 25 Finalist photographs will be professionally printed, framed and exhibited as part of the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 Finalist Exhibition in Sydney.

• From the 25 Finalists, the judging panel will select one recipient of the Australian Street Photography Award 2026, who will receive the $5,000 AUD major prize.

• Photographs may have been made anywhere in the world, provided the entrant meets the eligibility requirements of the Awards.

ENTRY FEES

• Entry fees are determined by the number of photographs submitted. Current entry packages and prices will be clearly displayed on the official Awards entry page before payment.

• Each photograph submitted will be judged individually. Purchasing a multiple-image entry package does not require the photographs to form a series.

• Entry fees must be paid in full before an entry is considered complete and eligible for judging.

• The Australian Street Photography Awards are operated by Aussie Street as a not-for-profit initiative. Entry fees are used to fund the Awards and support Aussie Street's activities within the Australian street photography community.

• Funds raised through entry fees may be used towards the $5,000 major prize, professional printing and framing of Finalist works, exhibition and event costs, administration, payment processing, promotion, and the delivery of future Aussie Street programs and opportunities.

• Any funds remaining after the costs of the 2026 Awards have been met will be reinvested into future Aussie Street awards, exhibitions, events, programs and other activities supporting Australian street photography.

JUDGING

• Judging of the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 will take place in two stages.

• In Stage One, all eligible photographs will be independently assessed by the appointed judging panel through an anonymous judging process. Judges will assess the submitted photographs without access to the entrant's name, biography, social media accounts or other identifying information.

• Following Stage One, the judges will select 25 Finalist photographs for inclusion in the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 Finalist Exhibition.

• In Stage Two, the judging panel will consider the 25 Finalist photographs and select the recipient of the Australian Street Photography Award 2026 and $5,000 AUD major prize.

• Judges may be required to declare a conflict of interest or recuse themselves from assessing an entry where appropriate.

• The winner will be announced at the opening of the Finalist Exhibition unless otherwise advised by Aussie Street.

• The judging panel's decisions regarding eligibility, selection of Finalists and selection of the Award recipient are final, and no correspondence regarding judging outcomes will be entered into.

FINALISTS

• Following completion of the first stage of judging, the 25 selected Finalists will be notified using the email address supplied with their entry.

• Finalists will be required to provide a high-resolution JPEG of their selected photograph suitable for exhibition printing, together with any additional information reasonably required for the exhibition, website, publicity or Awards administration.

• Requested files and information must be received by the deadline specified by Aussie Street. Failure to provide the required material within the specified timeframe may result in the withdrawal of Finalist status and selection of an alternative Finalist.

• Professional printing, framing and exhibition of all 25 Finalist photographs will be provided by Aussie Street at no additional cost to Finalists.

• Finalists will not be required to pay an exhibition, printing or framing fee as a condition of participation.

• Aussie Street will take reasonable care to ensure that exhibition prints accurately represent the submitted photographs. Entrants acknowledge that minor variations in colour, tone, cropping or appearance may occur as a result of preparing digital files for professional printing and display.

• Finalists retain copyright and ownership of their photographs at all times.

PRIZE

• One photograph will be selected from the 25 Finalists as the winner of the Australian Street Photography Award 2026.

• The winning photographer will receive a cash prize of $5,000 AUD.

• The prize will be awarded to the photographer whose name appears on the relevant entry and is not transferable to another person.

• Aussie Street may introduce additional non-cash prizes, commendations or a People's Choice Award where supported by partners or sponsors. Any additional awards will be announced separately and will not reduce the value of the $5,000 major prize.

• Unless otherwise announced, additional awards or commendations do not entitle the recipient to a cash payment.

• The winner will be responsible for any personal tax obligations that may arise from receipt of the prize.

PAYMENTS & REFUNDS

• All applicable entry fees must be paid in full before the published entry deadline for a submission to constitute a valid entry.

• An entry will not be submitted for judging until both the required submission information and payment have been successfully received.

• Entry fees are non-refundable, including where an entrant subsequently withdraws an image or decides not to participate.

• If an entry is determined to be ineligible because it does not comply with these Terms & Conditions, the entry fee will not ordinarily be refunded.

• If the Awards are cancelled by Aussie Street and cannot reasonably proceed, Aussie Street will determine an appropriate process for affected entrants, which may include refunding entry fees.

• Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their payment and submission have been successfully completed before the entry deadline.

COPYRIGHT & USE OF IMAGES

• Copyright and all other intellectual property rights in submitted photographs remain with the photographer at all times. Entering the Awards does not transfer ownership or copyright to Aussie Street.

• By entering, the photographer grants Aussie Street a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce and display submitted photographs where reasonably required to administer, judge, promote, exhibit, document and report on the Australian Street Photography Awards and related Aussie Street activities.

• This may include use on the Aussie Street website and social media channels; Awards and exhibition advertising; posters, invitations, brochures and other promotional material; exhibition catalogues and programs; media and press material; and a non-commercial archive documenting the Awards and exhibition.

• Aussie Street will not sell, commercially license or otherwise provide an entrant's photograph to a third party for unrelated commercial purposes without obtaining the photographer's permission.

• Where reasonably practicable, photographs reproduced publicly by Aussie Street will be accompanied by an appropriate photographer credit.

• No additional licence fee or compensation will be payable for uses permitted under these Terms & Conditions.

• Sponsors and partners may share official Aussie Street Awards promotional material containing submitted or Finalist photographs for the purpose of promoting their association with the Awards, but this does not grant sponsors or partners an independent licence to use an entrant's photograph for unrelated advertising or commercial purposes.

PERSONAL INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS

• Personal information provided by entrants will be collected and used by Aussie Street for purposes reasonably necessary to administer the Awards, including processing entries and payments, verifying eligibility, communicating with entrants, conducting judging, managing Finalists and producing the exhibition.

• Personal information will not be made available to judges during anonymous stages of the judging process, except where reasonably necessary to administer the Awards or resolve an eligibility or conflict-of-interest matter.

• Entrants may be given the option to subscribe to Aussie Street communications concerning future awards, exhibitions, events and opportunities.

• Consent to receive marketing communications is optional and is not a condition of entering the Awards.

• Entrants who opt in to such communications may unsubscribe at any time.

• Aussie Street will not sell entrants' personal information to third parties.

GENERAL

• Aussie Street reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions, adjust key dates, modify the administration of the Awards, or cancel or postpone the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 where reasonably necessary due to circumstances beyond its control or to ensure the fair and effective operation of the Awards.

• Where a material change is made after entries have opened, Aussie Street will make reasonable efforts to notify affected entrants through the official Aussie Street website, email and/or its social media channels.

• Aussie Street reserves the right to disqualify an entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions, contains false or misleading information, infringes the rights of another person, or is otherwise determined to be ineligible.

• Following the conclusion of the Australian Street Photography Awards 2026 Finalist Exhibition, exhibition prints and frames will be removed and retained by Aussie Street unless alternative arrangements are expressly communicated to Finalists. The physical exhibition print does not affect or transfer the photographer's copyright or ownership of the underlying photographic image.

• Aussie Street may retain Finalist exhibition prints for its non-commercial archive, future displays, documentation or activities relating to the history of the Australian Street Photography Awards and Aussie Street. Any materially different use will be subject to the copyright and image-use provisions contained in these Terms & Conditions.

• Following the exhibition, Finalist prints will become part of the Aussie Street Awards Collection, a physical archive documenting contemporary Australian street photography and the history of the Awards.

• Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are successfully uploaded and payment completed before the published deadline. Entrants are encouraged not to leave submission until immediately before the closing time.

• Aussie Street will take reasonable steps to maintain a reliable online submission process but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to the entry platform. Aussie Street is not responsible for entries that are delayed, incomplete, corrupted or not received due to internet outages, third-party payment or hosting services, equipment or software failures, or other technical circumstances outside its reasonable control.

• Where a significant technical failure affecting the entry platform occurs within Aussie Street's control, Aussie Street may take reasonable steps to address the issue, including extending the entry deadline where appropriate.

• To the extent permitted by law, Aussie Street and its organisers, partners, sponsors and service providers will not be liable for loss or damage arising from participation in the Awards except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

• Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian law, including applicable consumer protections.

• If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

• These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
